There are so many choices of tiles for the floors of a home and its confusing! So which are the better ones for a home and which sizes are wisest to use considering the cleaning and care of the tiles once layed.
There are so many to choose from! Tiles these days are getting bigger and bigger, a very popular size for a mainfloor is 600x600 and I like to use a 1.5 mm spacing, because grout is the thing that gets dirty so having a bigger tile with less grout is easier to clean.
Every tiler charges different rate for different tiles. For me Tiles up to 600x600 is a standard rate but for tiles above 600x600 example 450x900, 800x800 and 1000x1000 tilers normally would charge a little more because it becomes akward to work with and sometimes will need two people to put one tile down.
These larger tiles look nice but usually are for larger houses with big open living areas.
The last 10 mainfloors i have done have been all 600x600. looks great and under a normal pricing.
Another popular mainfloor tile is the woodlook tile, people who love the look of woodfloor but want the durabilty of a tile use this. only downside is there is alot of grout lines and grout will get dirty, also tilers usually charge extra for these tiles because they are alot more harder to lay and takes longer to tile and grout.
My own personal opinion would be to get a rectified tile which means it has a straight edge rather then a rounded "bevelled" edge it looks more sharper and has more of a expensive look.
hope this helps,
Chris

Here in the Philippines, the most preferred choice for flooring options is ceramic tiles for it is affordable, durable, and aesthetically pleasing and opting to choose this kind of tile requires little to no maintenance needs for it is easy to clean, unlike hardwood floors. I've stumbled upon this year end sale at Floor Center, they have quite the number of branches in the Philippines you should check out but if you don't have the time why not visit their site at floorcenter.com and see amazing deals for yours to keep. Best!
When installing tiles you might need good quality adhesives like MCB adhesives Bald Hills, they are realiable quality that lasts a long time.
